Azam Khan

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan on Sunday during a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur targeted BJP’s Jaya Prada by saying, “You took 17 yrs to recognise them but in 17 days…I recognised the underwear is khaki.” A former SP leader, Jaya Prada joined BJP on March 26. She has been an MP from Rampur for 10 yrs.

Actor-turned-politician & Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha election candidate from UP’s Rampur Jaya Prada today said senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan should not be allowed to contest the ongoing Lok Sabha elections over his remarks on her.

On Sunday (April 14), Azam Khan said, “It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underwear.” Jaya Prada has been fielded against him in Rampur by the BJP.

Azam Khan made the remark in the presence of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav & other senior party leaders.

What will happen to women if he wins: Jaya Prada

Reacting to Azam Khan’s remarks on her, Jaya Prada said that the Samajwadi Party should not be allowed to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

“He shouldn’t be allowed to contest the elections because if this man wins, what will happen to the democracy? There’ll be no place for women in society. Where will we go? Should I die? Will you be satisfied then? You think that I’ll get scared & leave Rampur but I won’t leave,” she said.

National Commission for Women (NCW) has sent a notice to Azam Khan over his ‘khaki underwear’ remark on BJP’s Jaya Prada.
