Richa Bhadra, who starred in the show ‘Khichdi’ as a child actor, has revealed she faced casting couch when she auditioned for roles after her marriage. “I came across a casting director who said, ‘Keep me happy & I’ll give you work.’ He wanted to meet me at a hotel when I suggested meeting him at a coffee shop,” she said.
The existence of casting couch in the entertainment industry has often been talked about by actors & technicians. While many have been lucky to have never encountered such a situation, some don’t have that option. Richa Bhadra, who played the role of child actor Chakki Parekh in Khichdi recently revealed that she decided to bid goodbye to the television industry after facing casting couch.
In an interview with media, Richa revealed that after her marriage, when she auditioned for roles, a few people asked her to “compromise”. “I came across a casting director who said, ‘Keep me happy & I will give you work.’ He wanted to meet me at a hotel when I suggested meeting at a coffee shop. That was the end to all my aspirations which I had in the industry. I didn’t want to ruin the image which I had built as a child actor,” she said.
Richa Bhadra, who played the role of Chakki Parekh in popular show Khichdi, has quit the television industry. She says casting couch and body shaming were the primary reasons for her decision.
Besides Khichdi, Richa also worked in Baa Bahu
“This is how I am, this is my body structure. Often I have been offered roles of a ‘fat girl’ as per the script’s demand. I don’t want that tag. I have been told to lose weight if I want to act. I don’t want to lose weight only to be a part of the industry,” asserted Richa.
In 2017, Richa married businessman Vivek Gupta & the couple had a dream wedding.
