Video | Policeman once stopped my car, told me I’m doing the wrong films: Ranbir
Shah Rukh Khan

Speaking at the Umang Police Show 2019, Ranbir Kapoor revealed a policeman once stopped his car & told him he’s doing the wrong kind of films. “He saw I was…inside the car, took a picture with me & gave me a lecture for half an hour,” Ranbir added. He said the policeman told him he should play a police officer.

Ranbir Kapoor is among the biggest Bollywood stars among the younger generation of actors. His last film Sanju, directed by Rajkummar Hirani, turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of 2018. Yet, there was a time when Ranbir had back-to-back flops in films like Besharam (2014), Roy (2015), Tamasha (2015) & Jagga Jasoos (2017). Recently, the actor attended the Umang Police Show 2019 & narrated an incident when one of his flop films caught the attention of a police official, who stopped him on the road & gave him career advice.

In a recent video from the show, which has emerged on the web, Ranbir Kapoor is seen narrating the story to Shah Rukh Khan & rest of the audience present at the show on how the cop had stopped his car & after taking a photo with him, told him that he is doing the wrong kind of films & that he should play a man in uniform (a cop).

While Ranbir revealed that he hasn’t played a cop because he hasn’t been offered such a role, Shah Rukh Khan also emphasised that he has been in the industry for 26 years & is still to play a police officer on the big screen. The Bollywood superstar candidly told Ranbir Kapoor that first, he will play a cop, then it’ll be Ranbir’s turn.

Ranbir, who idolizes SRK, was quick to respond that if SRK plays a cop on-screen, Ranbir would want to play his assistant or constable. Well, wouldn’t you want to watch Shah Rukh Khan & Ranbir Kapoor in a film together playing cops? We certainly hope that some production house takes them up on their promise to star together as cops.
