Parts of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, & Cyberabad will be affected by the shutdown.
Several areas in Hyderabad will see a break in their drinking water supply between August 26 & 29, as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board [HMWSSB] said that it was planning to take up certain works this week.
In a press note, the HMWSSB said that owing to maintenance work on the Osman Sagar conduit & cleaning of folder beds at Asifnagar, there would be no supply of water from 1 am on August 26 to 6 am on August 27, in areas like Kakatiya Nagar, Salarjung Colony, Vijaynagar colony, Chintal Basti & Humayun Nagar.
Water supply in areas including A C Guards, Khairatabad, Mallepally, Bhoiguda Kaman, Nampally, Aghapura, Seetharambagh, parts of Jawaharnagar, MCH Quarters, Secretariat, Red Hills, Gunfoundry, Domalguda & Lakdikapul will also be affected.
The HMWSSB stated that a 36-hour shutdown would also take place between 6 am on August 28 until 6 pm on August 29. This is to repair expansion joints in the pipeline of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-I between Godakondla & Gungal at Takkellapally, which have been damaged. According to reports, Aliabad, Kishanbagh, Saidabad, Chanchalguda, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Moosarambagh, Afzalgunj, Narayanaguda, Adikmet, Chilkalguda & Dilsukhnagar may be affected due to this shutdown.
The HMWSSB press note also stated that there would be no water supply between 6 am to 6 pm on August 29, in the areas fed by the Bhojagutta, Marredpally, Malkajgiri & Sainikpuri reservoirs, as some works were being taken up.
The water board requested residents to use water judiciously, to avoid any inconvenience. The Telangana government is presently busy implementing its Mission Bhagiratha, which promises drinking water to each & every household in the state.
